More affordable accommodation for students made available by JOSHCO

THE shortage of quality and affordable student accommodation has become one of the major challenges facing the higher education sector in South Africa.

It is for this reason that the Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO) launched its first student accommodation in Braamfontein to tackle the shortage of student accommodation in the City in 2021.

Dakalo student accommodation offers students a viable option for secure and affordable student accommodation in Braamfontein with rentals ranging from R4 600 to R5 000.

Situated within a five-minute walk from the University of the Witwatersrand Braamfontein campus and a 10-minute drive from the University of Johannesburg main campus in Auckland Park, it ensures convenient access to key academic institutions.

There is a complimentary bus service to and from UJ Doornfontein campus, UJ main campus, and Wits University main campus on weekdays, alleviating concerns about transportation costs.

Dakalo offers an array of amenities designed to enhance the student experience. With unlimited Wi-Fi, students have seamless access to online resources for academic research and staying connected with friends and family.

The biometric security systems ensure peace of mind, providing a secure living environment for residents. The on-site gym encourages a healthy lifestyle, allowing students to prioritize their well-being amid their academic pursuits.

For focused study sessions, Dakalo provides dedicated study rooms equipped with computers, facilitating a conducive learning environment. These amenities are tailored to support students’ holistic development and academic success during their stay at Dakalo.

“At JOSHCO, we strongly believe that providing a fulfilling living experience is essential for a student’s overall growth and development. We are dedicated to ensuring that our student accommodation goes beyond just being a place to stay. Our goal is to foster an environment that enables students to excel academically, socially, and personally,” read a media statement.
