Motsoeneng to be shifted to another role at the public broadcaster!

High way or my way. SABC’s COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng will be appointed to new role, according to his lawyer.

Last week, the Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed an application for leave to appeal by the SABC board‚ Minister of Communications Faith Muthambi and Motsoeneng against the decision of the high court in Cape Town which found Motsoeneng’s appointment was invalid and set it aside.

But as an employee of SABC, Motsoeneng should be appointed to another position, according to his lawyer Advocate Zola Majavu.

“Motsoeneng respected the judiciary and that following the judgment‚ he would not be able to work as COO.

“I have made that clear to him. He understands it. I said (he should) go report for duty. Let the employer indicate what are they going to do with your continued employment there.

“The appointment that was set aside was made by the SABC board with the concurrence of the minister.”

Majavu said he had not received instructions from Motsoeneng to take the matter further to the Constitutional Court.

According to Majavu, he was appointed and still employed by the SABC, until the board decide otherwise.

The burning question is, should he resign (that’s unlikely of course) how much would the disgruntled public broadcaster part away with and if, not, which other position would be suitable for him?

After-all, he would still control from the back seat (talk of an elephant leading from the back) considering his relationship with the minister of communication and president JG Zuma.

At the time of publishing SABC spin doctor Kaizer Kganyago, said the board is still studying the courts judgement and will make informed decision on way forward.
