Nedbank Cup draw, new logo

“WE LOOK forward to an exciting but exceptionally tough season in 2023/24,” says Coltrane Munyai- SuperSport FC marketing manager.

He shared the news with this reporter at the draw of the 2023 Nedbank Cup recently.

“It is no longer easy to predict these unknown teams as they come prepared and done their homework, when they play big clubs such as SuperSport,” he said following the draw held at the bank’s head office in Sandton.

SuperSport open their account against nemesis Dondol FC Stars.

But its good for us because we also boast young players and this will give us a real match. We take no chances when coming to these unknowns, because they’re hungry and wanna prove a point by outclassing top side, says the bespectacled Munyai, who confirmed he was recruited to the club by the late midfield star Thomas “Timmy Tomas” Madigage.

The 16th edition of the Nedbank Cup allows amateur clubs to compete with top PSL outfits.

‘We are excited to kick off the 16th edition of the Nedbank Cup, a great feature on South African knockout football calendar. The 2023 season provides yet another opportunity for armature teams to compete with the best in local football and showcase their talent.

As Nedbank, our aim is to continue supporting the growth and development of local football. To show our commitment, in collaboration with the 2023 Nedbank Cup winners, we will install our eighth multipurpose sport court in a school and community where the winning club is based.

Our goal for the sport court is to help develop skills and provide a facility that encourages more participation in football and other sport. We’d like to thank our longstanding partner, the PSL, for their support and efforts in successfully launching the 2023 season,” says Khensani Nobanda, Group Executive of Marketing and Communications at Nedbank.

Nedbank also revealed its refreshed brand identity for the 2023 tourney.
