The Bafana mentor took the squad through their paces during a training session held at the Royal Marang Sports Complex in Rustenburg.
The session – which was not very physical – focused mostly on the team’s defensive approach and techniques.
“We have prepared well, we are ready for Congo,” Mashaba said soon after the practice session.
“The players are aware of what it at stake. We need to win the match and everyone has a chance to be part of history by helping the team to win.”
Mashaba added that he would not be putting too much pressure on the players during training as he does not want to exhaust them before the match in Pointe-Noire.
“It is very hot and we do not want the players to get tired or get injured. We do not want blisters so we will not burn them out.
“You must know that we are playing for just 90 minutes on Saturday and not for the whole day. It is important for us to maintain our fitness levels throughout the match,” Mashaba explained.
Bafana – who will be without defenders Anele Ngcongca and Ayabulela Magqwaka owing to injuries – will be eager to win both matches against the Congolese, who top the Group A standings with six points from two games.
* Winning the two ties against Congo will greatly enhance Bafana’s chances of making the 2015 edition of the continental tournament, which will be held in Morocco.
