We are inviting cultural dance and music groups from surrounding countries and overseas, including a Caribbean steel band.
This inaugural Livingstone festival will take place on 21-22 June 2013. There will be a street carnival procession on Friday 21 June along the main street, followed by live music. There will be a Gala Dinner on Friday evening. On Saturday 22 June there will be cultural dancing, African drumming, arts and crafts, food stalls, music and more.
The Festival is timed to coincide with the arrival of the new direct flights from Nairobi to Livingstone, Zambia, by Kenyan Airways – a major sponsor of this event. The airline will be flying in a cultural group of Masai warriors to mark the occasion and they will join in the Festival.
Many countries have shown great interest in the event, including The Seychelles, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Kenya, India, Cuba, and of course SA.
Invitations have gone out to 15 nations in total, including The USA, China, Turkey, The UK, South Korea and Egypt, to come and participate and bring a cultural dance or music group to the fest.
Bring or make a drum, you’re invited…
