PSL on a hunt for new CE

Following the meeting, the executive committee announced it has mandated the PSL Chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza to embark on a head hunt for a candidate to fill the vacant PSL CEO position as a matter of urgency.

Dr Khoza will then have to report back to the executive committee.

In the interim, incumbent COO, Mr Cambridge Mokanyane will be the acting CEO for the League. Mr Mokanyane will continue his duties as the COO and CFO while the League continues the search for a candidate. Dr Khoza indicated that Mr Mokanyane has made himself unavailable for the CEO position.

The EXCO also resolved to reaffirm its earlier decision to observe the 2012 CAF Africa Cup of Nations period. This means that there will be no Absa Premiership and Cup competition matches during the entire duration of the tournament.

“We took this decision in order to give the Africa Cup of Nations the respect it deserves and to ensure that there will be no counter attraction during the continental showpiece. Clubs are advised that there should be no organised events during the tournament except training matches. This break will enable players to recuperate following what has been a very congested fixture,” Khoza said.

Executive Comittee also sent a request to SAFA for an urgent Joint Liaison Committee meeting where they will discuss the up-coming Under 23 eight-nation’s 2012 Olympics qualifying tournament in Morocco and the U20 COSAFA Championships.
