Seychelles minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine Alain St.Ange, in welcoming the airline said, working through the process to get the flight back to Seychelles has been a real pleasure.
As part of giving a warm welcome inclusive of water jet salute, the minister commented that:” Seychelles welcomes the first of the seven flights per week to be operated by Qatar Airways. And the country looks forward to the consolidation of Qatar Airways Seychelles route as it is for the Seychelles tourism industry.
Welcome because there are three aviation hubs in the the Middle East area which are Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha in Qatar,” he said in welcoming the inaugural Flight QR678 from Doha, Qatar.
Thus far, Qatar Airways is operating seven flights per week with a daily flight from Seychelles to over 150 destinations worldwide, via Doha.
The ceremony was graced by Captain Savy, the Chairman of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), Garry Albert, the PS for Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Anne Lafortune, the PS for Tourism, Gilbert Faure, the CEO of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), Sherin Francis, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) among other airport and government officials, together with local dignitaries.
Qatar Airways recently entered the Namibian market, as part of expanding its footprint in Africa.
