Rape charge accused sentencing postponed for further investigation

This monster will face the dock for raping a 7-year old kid at Dos eatery in Pretoria.

ADVOCATE SANET Jordaan has asked for postponement for further investigations, following the rape charge.

The 20 year-old man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the kid, appeared in Court on Tuesday morning, following the rape of a 7-year old at Dos Restaurant, Pretoria last week.

The postponement, according to Advocate Jordaan is to obtain the accused’s cellphone for “forensic downloading”.

The accused allegedly watched the little girl in the restaurant play area and later followed her to the bathroom. According to patrons‚ the mother of the child went looking for her after she noticed she was not in the play area. She allegedly caught her daughter’s attacker in the act.

A video purportedly taken moments after the rape ordeal depicted a naked man‚ partly covered in blood.

The man, wearing a grey hoodie to obscure his face, did not apply for bail. The accused also faces more charges such as possession of drugs‚ intimidation and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Various political parties and civic organizations have called for harsher sentence against the accused.

Other eateries have also strengthened their security and advised parents not to let kids go to the loo or play unattended.

The government also called the public not to share the “disturbing video”.

Magistrate Marley Mokoena postponed the matter to November 1 for further investigation.
