Red Square Djs competition hots up as it boils down to grand finale!

Venues like Bahamas in Kwa Thema, Ekurhuleni, Casban Pub in Soweto and Ghetto Pub in the Vaal will host semi finals, on December 8th and 9th, to round up the list of the top-eight contestants.

The talented and up and coming DJs, selected from over six -thousand entries and out of sixty auditions, will battle-it-out for R60 000 in cash and DJ equipment worth R100 000 at the finals.

“We are very happy about the number of entries we have received it just shows how popular the Deejaying culture has become. It also shows that there are a lot of young people out there who are hungry for opportunities to showcase their talent and abilities and as a brand we are making a platform available to them to tap into those chances,” says Red Square marketing manager, Victor Selaelo.

Since its inception in 2007 the KnockOut Challenge has been growing impressively, moving from one Gauteng region to now covering the entire province. “We are looking at taking the competition to a few more provinces next year and will make the necessary announcement when the time is right, “ added Selaelo.

The 2012 Red Square DJ knockout Challenge winner will join a list of previous title-holders that include Dj Shimza, Dj Lite, Dj Khomza and Dj Bhaze.

The Red Square championed project’s primary aim is to give young DJs a good start in taking and maximizing opportunities in an economically gainful activity or to improve on what the DJ is already doing. Most importantly it makes it possible for the young DJs to be self-employed and or entrepreneurial.

The 2012 Red Square DJ KnockOut final is on December 15 at Meat Corner Chisanyama, Zone 14, Sebokeng. Gates open at noon.
