SA improves stakes in the BET awards

This was revealed by the sponsors and organizers at the media brief, held at the Pride of Africa Hotel, Melrose Arch on Monday.

SA stars. Both Babes Wodumo and AKA have been nominated in the Best Int’l Act: Africa BET 2017 Awards happening in June, LA. Image SLM.

Topping the bill for SA is Hip-Hop chart don AKA, Nasty C and the inimitable dance and house music sensation, Babes Wodumo.

The main ceremony will be held on June 27 2017.

Nigeria enjoys a strong representation with Wizkid who is no stranger to the awards, the infinitely talented Tekno, enterprising singer Mr Eazi, singer and producer Davido and one of the leading reggae and dancehall artists, Stonebwoy from Ghana rounding up the nominees for the Best International Act:
Africa.

On behalf of Nasty C, who is in Kenya for Coke Studio recording, Sikhulile Nzuza A&R Manager at Mabala Noise said it’s about hard work and happy for our own for this special nomination.

“My job as A&R at the company is to make sure in LA we have enough content to work and features. There will be no time for him to rest. It will be work and knocking on those doors for opportunities,” says Nzuza.

“This augurs well for the image of Nasty C and status of the company.”

Mfaniseni Motha, DStv Marketing says for them as the company is to allow the platform for local artists to work hard and shine against their peers worldwide.

“We provide platform and the rest is up to them.”

Sultry dancer Nicky Minaj has been nominated in the Best female Hip Hop artist category.
