Having opened on November 1, entries close on January 31 2017.
According to the organisers RISA (Recording Industry of SA) three more categories have been added namely: 
The awards are classified as the premier annual music awards event in South Africa honouring and recognising accomplishments in the South African recording industry, and to celebrate the diversity infused in the different music genres.
The awards are open to any record company or individual artist accepted as a member of RiSA.
At the time of publishing it was not clear when and where will the awards be held.
