SA Open tees off under unbearable, searing hot conditions!

Taking off. SA’s Jaco Van Zyl made a great tee-off at today’s SA Open at Glendower Golf Club, Edenvale.

With the searing heat making it impossible for players’ to enjoy the field, Jaco Van Zyl continued his good start to the 2016 season as he set the early pace on day one.

The home favourite has 13 wins on the Sunshine Tour but is still searching for a maiden European Tour victory, although recent performances suggest that he may not be far off.

He was on course for victory at the Turkish Airlines Open in November before a blistering finish from Victor Dubuisson pushed him into second, while he finished in ties for eighth and 13th respectively in the first two events of the campaign before Christmas.

With a purse of R15 000 000 it comes with, players will be eager to get their hands on the lot and improve their standings in the Sunshine Tours globally.

Global star and SA born Ernie Els is expected to ruffle some feathers and hopefully clinch the challenge.

The SA Open began today ending 10 January 2016.

My hope is a bit of rain will come in-handy, although for players it will be a bitter pill to swallow as the pitch will suffer, or kanjani?
