NOW that the package deal, we assume, has been signed and delivered, Bafana Bafana new coach can now focus on the team.
Pitso “Jingles” Mosimane was on Tuesday unveiled as officially Bafana coach at the SAFA press briefing.
Its unclear how much was the dangling carrot to Mosimane and his technical team; but what’s certain is both parties are singing from the same hymn page.
During his address Mosimane said, his wish is to “uplift the brand of Bafana and that of the country.”
The well-travelled mentor begins his work with the team, with a home Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea on September 26.
Bafana then travels to neutral Egypt to face Eritrea four days later.
They play Benni McCarthy’s Kenya in home and away fixtures in November, and complete their campaign in Guinea and home to Eritrea in March next year.
Because Kenya are co-hosts and automatically qualify, only one other side from the pool will advance to the 24 team finals.
“Jingles” as he’s known returns to Bafana set-up having been an assistant coach under Brazilians- Carlos Alberto Parreira and Joel Santana through to the 2010 World Cup in SA.
He was then elevated to the top job of which he unceremoniously left after poor results.
SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly are some of the clubs he mentored, resulting in gaining vast experience that led to his return to coach his country.
He replaces Belgian tactician Hugo Broos who took the team to AFCON and 2026 World Cup finals after 20 years’.
Now that boardroom talks are done and dusted, it’s time to exchange those designer suits for training gear and the results.
