Sizekhaya Holdings partners with SAPO to increase Lotto footprint

THE South African Post Office (SAPO) has expanded its range of customer services through a partnership with Sizekhaya Holdings, operator of the South African National Lottery, which has installed Lotto terminals at 60 high-volume Post Office branches across South Africa.

The branches were selected based on transaction volumes and customer footfall and form part of the initial phase of the rollout.

Customers can conveniently purchase National Lottery tickets including Lotto, PowerBall, PowerBall Xtra and Daily Lotto, while visiting participating Post Office branches, with terminals accepting cash as well as electronic payment methods.

The partnership enhances convenience for customers by enabling them to access another service during a single branch visit.

Acting CEO of SAPO Fathima Gany noted, “The partnership with Sizekhaya supports our strategy to diversify revenue while expanding the range of services available through our branch network. It strengthens our value proposition by providing customers with greater convenience and more reasons to visit their local Post Office.”

Sizekhaya CEO Lebogang Ndadana welcomed the partnership, saying it was an important step in making the National Lottery even more accessible to South Africans.

“The National Lottery belongs to the people of South Africa, so we want to make it as easy and convenient as possible for people to participate, wherever they live,” said Ndadana. “The Post Office has a footprint that reaches communities across the country, and this partnership gives people even more places to buy their National Lottery tickets as part of their everyday lives. We’re delighted to be working with SAPO and look forward to growing the partnership.”

Participating branches will also be able to pay out National Lottery winnings of up to R2 000.

Gany said the rollout represents the first phase of the partnership, with further expansion planned following an assessment of the initial branches’ performance.

SAPO and Sizekhaya are also engaging with a leading commercial bank to facilitate the payment of higher-value winnings through selected Post Office branches in future.
