Soweto Marathon now split into two-days!

Whether you are a professional athlete or someone who just enjoys the outdoors, the Soweto Marathon will have something for YOU!

The experienced runner can test their fitness and endurance levels with the 42.2km race.

There is also a 10km Run/Walk, a 10km Professional walk, a 10km Wheelchair race and a 5km Fun Run is offered for those enthusiasts just looking to get out and experience Soweto.

Last year’s winner from Lesotho Mamorallo Tjoka will be the female runner to watch.

The Lesotho marathon runners’ have a certainly inflected pain in the flesh of rivals, and whether they will come out to prove that point once again, is beyond reasonable doubt!

South African Michael Mazibuko, who runs in the colours of Toyota Athletic Club, is determined to win his second successive Soweto marathon in the male section.

“It will be my last marathon for 2012 and I want to end the year with a bang by winning it again, as was the case last year,” said Mazibuko.

A cool first prize of R100 000 is up for grabs!

Athletics South Africa expect about 20 000 people to participate in the fun-filled marathon extravaganza.

For the first time in it’s history, the marathon will be split over two days, with the 10km wheelchair race, the 5km fun run and the 10km professional walk taking place on November 3.

The only races taking place on November 4 will be the 42.2km marathon and the 10km run/walk, said ASA.
