Soweto prepares for Sport Indaba!

The two-day Indaba starts from October 3 to 4 2013.

It is revered as one of biggest sport gathering in Soweto.

 It will deliberate on plans amongst others, how to ensure that at least one Sowetan athlete flies the country’s flag at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and also have more athletes coming out of Soweto performing excellently on both local and international arena.

 Delegates from sport bodies, federations, residents and government, will discuss issues on to revive sport in Soweto, which will in turn lead to Soweto being the leader in producing sport champions in the country.

MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Lebogang Maile says:” The department has shown interest in the positive outcomes of the indaba and trust that it will contribute to the establishment and strengthening sport structures in Soweto”.

The Sport Indaba is hosted in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture & Recreation and the City of Johannesburg.

This year’s theme is “from the cradle to the grave”.

Sporting federations in Soweto are encouraged to register before October 3.

It starts from 9 to 3:30pm.
