Subaru club members gear up for ScoobyFest!

Doubling as the clubs year-end function, ScoobyFest is SOCSA’s biggest event for the year and is widely supported by club members and Subaru enthusiasts alike.

Plenty of track action, Subaru style Famed for its legendary rally-inspired performance cars and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, the Subaru brand lends itself perfectly to an event of this nature.

Without any doubt of course, owners of iconic performance-oriented Subaru models like the STI, WRX, Forester Turbo and other models will be out in full force, blazing trails in the various disciplines of the event. With goings-on for all and a few extra-special activities lined up, ScoobyFest 2012 is set to be a great day out for any petrol head.

SOCSA chairperson Nadia Singh says she and the rest of the organizing committee are really excited after months of preparation for the best ScoobyFest yet.

“ScoobyFest has always been our flagship event and this year we’re going bigger and better than ever before. Zwartkops is going to be jam-packed with activities and our members have been preparing for some time, all in the name of fun and friendship. We can’t wait to hit the track on Saturday and we encourage any and all Subaru owners to join in the fun! As they say in the movies, ”start your engines”.

Zwartkops Raceway is set to be abuzz from 07:00 on Saturday, with the timed skidpan gymkhana kicking things off in the morning. With its slippery wet surface and the Subarus Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, the skidpan is always great fun and a good challenge for drivers. The timed hillclimb will be on the go throughout the day as the Zwartkops drive-in plays host to dump valves and sticky tyres much like the main circuit will be doing around lunch time for elimination drag races.

The track will then be open for laps in the afternoon with instructors available as well, so even novice track drivers get the most out of their cars and the day.

Not missing the club’s customary family-friendly nature, ScoobyFest also promises interesting activities and showcases throughout the day for everyone, including an air show in the morning and an RC car display courtesy of the Nissan club. Various product partners will be showing off their wares and wheel alignment and balancing vouchers will be up for grabs. A raffle will also be on the go with a great prize attached; a free tuning session for a lucky Subaru owner.

Max My Ride magazine photographers will also be at the event for magazine coverage.

Without the support and assistance of ScoobyFest sponsors which include Subaru Southern Africa, Edenglen Tyre & Exhaust, Auto Sound Engineering, Pyro

Performance and Phoenix Performance, such an event is impossible to put together, and the club expresses its gratitude to all.

Ashley Lazarus, Marketing Manager for Subaru Southern Africa, says:” The petrol which runs through our veins at Subaru Southern Africa is something shared by every Subaru enthusiast and we take great pleasure in supporting SOCSA at ScoobyFest this year. We are looking forward to fun-filled action from start to finish for a great end to 2012.”

Entrance to ScoobyFest 2012 is free for SOCSA members and only R100 for non-members, which includes a special ScoobyFest gift and entry into all driving disciplines, with limited space available for registrations. As usual with SOCSA, a portion of the day’s proceedings will be donated to a nominated charity and this time the SA Guide Dogs Association.
