SuperSport had a nerve to fire Marawa through social media

I guess that’s what happens when you confront your superiors head-on such as the outspoken broadcaster and award winner Robert Marawa. Yes, he does punch below the belt- ask those who felt his wrath?

He was fired through a twitter by SuperSport headhonchos.

The 46-year-old revealed to his 809 000 Twitter followers in a post that the sports channel told him less than two hours before the start of his show on Thursday night via a SMS not to show up for work.

SuperSport confirmed on Friday that it had undergone a restructuring process with the decision made not to pursue their contractual relationship with Marawa.

Marawa insinuated that his dismissal was connected to allegations of sexual harassment within SuperSport ranks that he spoke up about.

The pay channel commented via a statement: “SuperSport is in the process of an exciting refresh of its local presenter line-up, which will be unveiled as part of our new football season campaign”.

“I would like to thank all those who have supported my journey as a sportscaster and those I’ve worked with at SuperSport,”he posted.

Marawa earlier alluded to unhappiness in the workplace via another tweet: “Imagine paying for a service where people who are guilty of sexual harassment are employed and encouraged to work”.

In another message to viewers wanting to know what happened, he said: “One day u will ALL know. It will cost me my life but you will know” adding that “The Mafia! Incorporated with lackeys. An amazing story.”

We shall pursue this matter and dig to establish the behind the scenes that led to Marawa’s firing.

At the time of publishing ‘Madluphuthu’ as he’s known to millions of fans was unavailable for a comment.
