ALONG my street there is a vrrphaa that wakes the hell out of you, when asleep.
And you guessed it right- its a VW brand.
This shows the love mzansi citizens has towards this brand for centuries now.
Recently, I had a chance to play and fiddle with a Petrol Blue colour T- Roc, boasting sportier suspension tuning that now forms of R-Line componentry and the T-Roc feels planted firmly onto asphalt, bolstered by the grip of the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.
The interior is fitted with Beats sounds system, panoramic sunroof, Matrix LED lights and the extended infotainment package with navigation.
The R- model is fitted with standard Nappa leather and adjustable front seats, instrument cluster is digital, boasting eight-inch infotainment system and the capacitive touchpoints on the steering wheel.
Exterior-at the front, a more aggressive bumper template and refreshed headlamps give the T-Roc a sharper appearance. The rear also benefits from LED clusters. The R-Line kit ups the ante incorporating 19-inch Misano wheels. Aha, that what made heads and sundry turn, with envy!
Before I was stopped by a local traffic officer, who happened to be my Cousin, upon engaging along the Potchesfstroom route from Ventersdorp, I could feel the output 100km/h in a claimed 7.2 seconds, but I had to contend with 9.5l/100km as a result.
“Abuti, this is an R, I adore this subtle machine,” he showed me with praises, in the presence of his colleagues, as we were discussing funeral plans for one of own, who was shot dead, during attempted car hijack in PE. Bloody cowards. Should rot in jail.
Oh, there was no transgression hence no ticket was issued.
The R Line- could be felt at 2.0l four-cylinder turbocharged and petrol is 140kW and 320Nm. Believe it or not, the only time I visited the nearest fuel station, was upon return from NW, because it was full-tank when I left. I made sure the demons of hitting the acceleration played no part this time.
And yes, temptation was yearning…
“Stylistically, the T-Roc’s gutsy look is hard to ignore” raved one of the local teacher’s upon taking him for a ride.
Its no wonder VWSA will be investing over R4bn in Kariega plant in preparation for the third model in 2027.
R-Line retails for R687,100- includes a three-year/120,000km warranty and five-year/90,000km service plan.
