Yesterday, the social media was abuzz on the Kwaito star’s deteriorating health but the family has come forth and asked for prayers and space to deal with his condition.
Gabi Le Roux, his long-time collaborator responsible for many of his hits, said yesterday the family had asked him to go public about Tshabalala’s ill-health, according to Sowetanlive.
“He had cancer treatment last year for some growth in his sinus channel. He got radiation and chemotherapy for that at the time, he then went into remission and was showing very great signs (of recovery).
“But recently, he got some severe headaches and when he went to the doctors they tested and realised that the cancer had returned, and was now manifesting as a brain tumour.
“He had malignant growths in his sinus channel. It did not affect his brain at that stage and it got close. We were very happy that they managed to stop it from reaching the brain, and now it’s back and it has reached his brain.
“He is not doing well at all and we are asking everyone for their prayers and support so his ancestors can give him strength again this time. We can only hope for his recovery, we can never give up on him.”
In a short statement, Tshabalala’s wife Mpho said they would host a press conference soon. “We will be updating everyone on how he’s doing … for now we just wanted to inform the public.”

The 38 year old and Zola born Mandoza, was in and out of hospital last year but managed to fight back the cancer.
To show he had recovered, he had his birthday celebration’s early this year at Newtown-Jozi with friends and family, including his mother. He also gave a performance much to the delight of guests.
He’s scheduled to perform at the Thank YOU SABC Music Concert at Orlando Stadium this weekend but as things stand, he might not make it to the show and other gigs until his full recovery.
According to eNCA the family has said that while his condition is serious they are still waiting for “additional medication from abroad“.
The gravel-voiced Mandoza is known for releasing hits after hits such as Uzoyithola Kanjani, Nkalakatha (that made him popular across the white market), Tornado, Godoba, Phunyuka Bamphethe and Hope, and others.
As a result, he was nominated in the South African Music Awards (SAMA) Song Of The Year for Nkalakatha in 2001 and in Best Collaboration Video with Danny K at the Channel O Musical Video Awards.
Our prayers are with you to get well soon Madala…
