The vivacious Choko performs at Promusica Theatre, tomorrow evening!

Yep, South Africa, I’m referring to ngwana wa Mosotho- Choko who is dropping her untitled album at Promusica Theatre in Roodeport, tomorrow evening, during Choko Live!

The pint-sized who goes by the name Boichoko Qwabe born in Bloemfontein but Kroonstad raised, has been in the limelight albeit, did not crack it as one would have loved!

She will be sharing the stage with the likes of Kwela Tebza and Howza.

“The album is the sound of joy, of love and of a young girl who has now come into her own. My songs are fun, playful and soul touching,” she once commented.

Choko’s untitled album is adorned with Se-Sotho titles and lyrics.

From ‘Baile’, which she wrote in memory of her late grandfather, to ‘Kerobegile, ‘Lerato’ and ‘Uzenzile’, this goes on to show what culture and simplicity means to Choko.

“I draw my inspiration from a lot of experiences, and they all come with different emotions, lessons and eventually direct my story telling”, quips.

According to her management company Aptitude Consulting spokesperson Thandy Matlaila, the untitled album is meant to conscientious the public and also considering she has not yet being signed by any label.

Choko Live is an evening dedicated to raising funds to support one of the causes close to her heart ‘The Book Cover Initiative’, a project she initiated to address the lack of educational stationery for children from impoverished backgrounds.

“This might look small but I know that there are learners out-there who cannot afford to get their books covered. I have seen how that affects their confidence, especially when some teachers make it worse by always mourning about it and writing funny notes on their books”.

Proceeds from the evening will go towards the purchasing of book covers for students across South Africa for the 2013 School Year period.

For some, she’s remembered for unleashing an unforgettable performance on her first national appearance on the SABC 2 show Gospel Times in 2005.

For guests attending her show tomorrow evening, be prepared for another unforgettable experience and contribute to the good cause!

She has promised to crack it this time around and her fans can’t wait, either!
