RIKY RICK has died and South Africans are not taking it lightly.
The unfortunate news were confirmed by his family today, through a press statement.
He passed-on Wednesday morning en-route to hospital.
“The family is still meeting, and we will release a statement in due course. We ask for your understanding,” said a family spokesperson to Drum.
Its unclear if he did or not commit suicide and family will issue a full statement soon.
Close friends of the rapper, who chose not to be named, said the rapper passed away on his way to hospital.
Ricky did suffer depression and at times was rumoured to be taking drugs but stopped some years’ ago.
A source told Sunday World the rapper was found by his management team at about 08:30. Apparently he was rushed to a nearby hospital as he was still alive at the time.
The source also said that the rapper died on the way to the hospital.
I’ve met and interviewed this soft-speaking, award winning artist- cum fashionista on many occasions and notably at the Remy Martin events- as an ambassador for the brand.
He was also brains behind the popular youth Cotton fest.
The hip hop star was (34) at the time of his passing.
Born Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado in KZN, he lives wife Bianca Naidoo, two kids, mother and siblings.
Mzansi was still reeling from the shock of another rapper Citi Lyts (Sandile Mkhize) who was buried last week, after being shot ten-times in Soweto.
