Windhoek hops beer activation

THE first day of November had beer brand Windhoek hosting the Fourth Estate for a first time pop-up hops activation at three of Soweto’s popular social joints – replete with a Windhoek Hops Beer Truck accompanied by its host and face Dali Danger, for the purpose of experiencing the brewery’s #RealBeerRealFood campaign.

Commencing at the Orlando East tourist venue, Chaf Pozi, media practitioners were welcomed by representatives of facilitating agency and a crew of waiters and waitresses ready to take orders for ice-cold draughts poured from taps of the fully equipped truck, as well as one-handed streets eats (chicken wings, pork ribs and chips) straight off a griller and fryer stationed on the truck.

Limited to two hour appearances at each of the three venues, every stop was a “Hop on with Dali” comprising of interactions between the affable Vosloorus-raised Danger (real name Dali Monageng) – who conducted Real Conversations chats featuring real stories about South African food culture, the people behind them and good company – and reporters and guests.

On a late spring weekend under ideal sunny and cool weather – ‘twas a day of vibes celebrating Soweto’s street food heroes and enjoyment of authentic moments with great beer and vibrant people. The occasion was a #RealBeerRealFood experience and the organizers even laid out trendy Hyundai Staria MPVs to shuttle guests betwixt the participating venues which also included the Pimville spot, PDL and Orlando’s buzzing Meat Meet.

According to Windhoek beer marketing manager Keval Ramraj, the hops truck is a way to connect with fans and bring people together over great food and beer – whilst Danger describes being the brand’s ambassador thus: “It’s about more than just beer; it’s about real food and real connections.”

The Windhoek Beer Hops Truck forms part of the #RealBeerRealFood campaign which invites South Africans to crown the country’s best one-handed food spots.

According to a prepared news media release, a lucky fan stands a chance to win an all-expenses-paid Round the World Food Tour comprising some of the globe’s most iconic one-handed dishes.
