Would Sunday’s Soweto Derby outcome decide PSL title…?

A THING called football/soccer has no mercy and can throw curve-balls, unexpectedly.

In mind is the forthcoming Soweto Derby- Orlando Pirates vs Kaizer Chiefs.

Currently, Bucs are topping the PSL log and AmaKhosi are third.

These are exciting times, which SA hasn’t seen in ages, whereby the league will not be decided straight-forward in the past, with Downs’ being favourite but the curve ball is now taking a different shape altogether.

Downs’, who unceremoniously drew with Cape outfit Stellies FC this week (1-all) are now second on the log, and Bucs are back at the top, a real joy I must say for the fans.

Should have they won against Stellies FC, the race for the PSL title contenders would have been narrowed.

The post-match interview with Downs’ coach Miguel Cardoso, who stormed out during interview with SuperSport, showed a sign of pressure.

AmaKhosi who have seen a good run lately, could put Bucs popping champagne on an ice, should they produce a miracle on Sunday April 26, at the FNB Stadium.

The beauty of all this, no one can predict this year’s 2026/27 PSL title champs, for the very first in ages, how our football has improved, if only such performance could brush-off to the national team.

As for Downs’ they are kicking themselves for having lost that invaluable points, another curve-ball scenario, because everyone expected them to be a walk-over on coach Gavin Hunt’s side.

Again, will Sunday’s derby be a league decider -its between AmaKhosi and Bucs to decide that fate…

Meanwhile, supporters are advised that access to the stadium precinct on the derby day will be strictly controlled.

Parking is limited and only available via pre-purchased parking tickets on MyTicket.

A limited number of 5,000 parking tickets remain available. No on-site parking sales will be permitted, and vehicles without valid parking tickets will not be granted access to the precinct.

Supporters are strongly encouraged to make use of the official Park and Ride and public transport options to ensure smooth access to the event.

Kick-off 3pm.
