Buhle rules after being named Miss Soweto 2015!

Yes, it is said second time around is a lucky charm!

The Dube born was crowned the beauty pageant at the glittering affair, having ousted other potential winners. Soweto Theatre (Jabulani) was the venue.

Currently, an Accounting student at the University of Johannesburg, the 20 year old had praises and gratitude’s from family.

Buhle-meaning beauty- walked away with grand prize of R10,000 in cash and a holiday cruise to Mozambique, sponsored by White Star, a year’s worth of hair services from Afro Nubian, R30 000 in jewellery from Lichaba Jewellery and a year-long membership at Virgin Active.
“I’m happy but at the same time a bit nervous because I’ve got a workload to deal with. Winning comes with responsibilities and targets and I intend achieving all that.

I worked hard to be where I am and nothing will distract me,” she said boldly post interviews.

The new Miss Soweto intends establishing literacy centres (starting in Dube) that will focus on teaching the youth of Soweto how to read and write.

That’s how she wants to empower them – by giving them something that no-one will take from them.

“I want to be an influential woman, an advocate for change,” she said.

Nthabiseng Kgasi from Protea Glen and Nokukhanya Kunene from Emdeni, were crowned first and second princesses respectively.

Raised by family members -aunt who acts as her mother Nhlanhla Hlalele and uncle Sipho Xulu, Buhle’s Mom passed on years ago.

“We’re happy with her winning because she works hard, determined and listens. As a result of that she’s busy with her studies,” says the jubilant Nhlanhla, after crowning who, also noted raising her was difficult due to situations at home without getting into details.

He Uncle Sipho Xulu and niece 12 year old Tshenolo, all agreed in unison that although they didn’t believe she will walk away with the title due to its competitiveness, God prayers were eventually answered.

“This is her second bite at the cherry having lost to win the title last year,” they told SLM.
