Vehicle manufacturer Daimler Chrysler’s chief executive officer Trent Barcroft was in hospital after he was shot at during a robbery in Midrand, Gauteng police say.
“He was with his wife, who was unharmed. He was shot in the stomach… the attackers took jewellery, cellphones and the wife’s handbag,” spokeswoman Captain Kym Cloete said.
The two were on their way home when the attack happened on Tuesday.
According to few motoring journos we spoke to, said Barcroft is a simple and humble man who was always ready to listen to concerns be it local or international.
“He had an open door policy and did not deserve this cruelty,” says Eric Phiri from Sports Focus.
No arrests had been made.
