The award ceremony was held at the leafy Manslow Hotel, Sandton, were multitudes of marketers, CEOs, guests and media came in large numbers to celebrate and witness what the awards are about.
KWV3 and Cola outnumbered other competitors to victory which was fiercely contested by alcoholic industries in the country.
The KWV3 and Cola launched last year, seeks to target younger males in urban areas.
As a strong heritage brand, KWV SA had decided earlier last year to expand its offering within the Ready-To-Drink (RTD) market with a blend of premium 3-year-old potstilled brandy and great tasting cola that would appeal to younger, urban males.
“We are very proud of this achievement as a lot of work and effort went into its launch,” says De Bruyn Steenkamp, KWV’s director of Wines, RTD’s& New Product Development.
“This gives us the public seal of approval and we are excited for the future.”
The RTD category is South Africa’s fastest growing alcohol category by volume. KWV has responded to this rapidly increasing market by launching three new RTD products within the last eighteen months.
Apart from KWV 3 and Cola, the new RTDs include Ciao (a range of ready-to-serve spirit cocktails) and jimmijagga (South Africa’s first ever range of premixed wine spritzers).
According to the organizers, next year will see more alcoholic brands entering the awards for this category.
