But in the Free State province, women will be honoured in what would be called ‘Heroines Awards’ on Saturday evening- August 26 at Ilanga Estate -Mangaung, the first of its kind in the province.

“The aim is to celebrate these women who are working tirelessly to improve the lives of many people in their communities across the Free State.  The awards also seek to encourage these women to continue working hard while creating jobs and empowering the youth and other women,” says Carol Mosiamo, the founding member of the Heroines Awards.

“Free State needs women of this stature, as it is sometimes forgotten although it plays an important role in the country’s economy.

It is not only for farmers as it is perceived, but has a great potential for reconstruction and development of this country,” she pointed out.

The awards -now in second edition- are backed by the provincial government, municipalities and some private businesses from across the province.

The awards ceremony whose theme is ‘cocktail’ begins from 6pm.

Metro FM’s afternoon daily show co-presenter Masechaba Ndlovu will MC the gala.
