I'm saddened and devastated by news of the passing-away of Collins Chabane!

I was fortunate to have been introduced to him by then his long friend, fellow comrade and then spokesperson Lehlohonolo Masoga, currently deputy Speaker in Limpopo.

More often than not-during interviews -he would ask for permission to take a smoke, since he was a chain smoker. Such respect is hard to find this nowadays. But the late made it simple and accommodative.

My wish is that your peers and fellow ruling party followers have grasped a lot from your leaf, and simplicity. It is true, simplicity goes a long way!

And yes, despite being an astute politician he was a passionate music fellow who enjoyed dancing and appearing with his group ‘Movement’. His favourite instrument was Imbira or finger piano.

Yes, I’m going to miss that effortless smile Mr Chabane, since you’re now at the celestial view!

Indeed, our country is poorer without you.

Comrade Chabane (minister for Public Service and Administration) and his two bodyguards will be given a State Funeral, according to Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, yesterday, during his visit to one of the deceased family’s gathering.

Robalang ka ntho madi a tshologe to all affected families…
