Jack Daniel’s age remains a mystery- but throughout the world in September his birthdate is acknowledged by raising a glass!

As a result every September, people around the globe raise a glass to celebrate the birthdate of the famous Tennessee Whiskey maker.

Never shying away from giving people something to talk about, Jack Daniel wasn’t one to disclose his age to anyone. Ultimately, the date of his real birthday remains unknown as he had been known to have a couple of years’ off his age from time to time.

 Interestingly, it has been confirmed that slaves also played a major role in the distillery of American whiskey.

Fred Minnick, the author of “Bourbon Curious : A Simple Tasting Guide for the Savvy Drinker,” said it’s doubtful that a full accounting of enslaved peoples’ contribution  to American whiskey will ever be written. “It’s extremely sad that these slave distillers will never get the credit they deserve,” he said.

“We likely won’t ever even know their names.”

“I don’t know what roles slaves would have played,” Mr Veach said, ”but I’m sure it was there.”
