MEC Maile championing sport development in the province!

The Gauteng Departments of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership with that of Education will host the final leg of schools district athletics competition from the 22 to 23 February at various stadia within the province.

The competition serves as an eliminator for Provincial Athletics Championships to be held in March 01-02, at Germiston Stadium.

About 10 000 learners between the ages of 10 to 19 from both primary and secondary schools will compete in different activities such as sprints, middle distance running, javelin, high and long jump, shot put and hammer throw.

The event is a platform to expose learners to competitive sport and for talent identification and development.
