Netball national team wins series

They beat Uganda 44 -32 in the last match of the Tri Nations series held at the Cape Town International Convention Center from 25 to 31 March.

All teams faced each other three times during the series and Proteas won all six of their matches.

This augurs well for the team as it prepares for the 2023 Netball World Cup to be held in Cape Town.

Most of the senior players are based abroad and could not make it to the series due to Covid-19.

Their efforts were recognised by the deputy Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Nocawe Mafu, who congratulated the team.

“Well done to the SPAR Proteas coaching team for fielding new players to strengthen the team and make sure that we have depth going to the 2023 Netball World Cup. And those new girls showed character and proved that they are also worthy of positions in the National team.

The SPAR Challenge series has been very valuable for the new players and of course for the team as the SPAR Proteas prepare for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham next year and the Netball World Cup in Cape Town in 2023,” says Mafu.
