S-Presso to the rescue

Suzuki’s latest compact SUV-hatchback S-Presso type in mzansi is far one of the finest- considering the tough economic conditions and the unfortunate Covid -19, in that pockets are running dry and dogs wiggling tails are no more…

Finest because its’ less pricey and fuel considerate. Oh, don’t forget the Suzuki brand is one of SAs best-selling.

The S-Presso models range feature two airbags as standard and come fitted with anti-lock braking system (ABS) with emergency brake-force distribution (EBD), and features include electric windows for the front occupants, rear parking sensors, air conditioning, power steering and a multi-information display, which includes information such as distance to empty, trip duration and distance traveled.

We took it for a road test and it obliged, despite its exterior designs. It took on the ‘boss of the roads’.

Ideal for first timers or students the S-Presso also boast GL+ adds a full-colour infotainment system that is touch sensitive, comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB and auxiliary-in ports and Bluetooth connectivity.

Being a budget car you can’t fault it for overt use of plastic and minimal sound insulation but it does the job on the road- okusalayo…

The seats are covered in a mixture of cloth and vinyl, while red inserts are used to spice up the ambiance inside the cabin.

The S-Presso is a one engine: a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol motor that produces 50kW and 90Nm. It’s not a lot of power, but adequate to haul the 770kg car around. Its mated at five-speed manual gearbox.

Oh, we enjoyed utilizing the spacious boot that could carry 5 large traveling bags (with border gates opening 1st Oct its time to visit our neighbours) and the leg room. Yes looks can be deceiving.

A definite must get, you can keep your ‘boss of the road’.

Price range from R134 900 for the entry-level version for the GL manual version, while the rest of the range are priced at R139 900 for the GL+, R152 900 for the GL+ AMT, R147 900 for the S Edition and R160 900 for the S Edition AMT.

S-Presso owners get a year’s worth of insurance, complementary. For added peace of mind, there is also a 2-year/30 000km service plan and 5-year/200 000km mechanical warranty.

Yeah, lets express ourselves in the very colourful S-Presso!
