Tourism Indaba is going to be the best- Minister Hanekom

Back in the driving seat. Minister of Tourism Derek Hanekom, says Indaba is going to be the best.

Over 10 000 delegates from all walks of life are attending the travel show, that is expected to contribute over R5million pre and post the gathering.

“The African continent is one of warmth and diversity.

“We are one as humanity and we will express it on the continent,” says Hanekom, who has been re-appointed to the post this year.

“While only five percent of global travel is to Africa, this is an opportunity to grow,” the minister said.

Sisa Ntshona, chief executive of South African Tourism, called the trade show the leading travel exhibition in the world.

“Over the next three days, we look forward to hosting you and ensuring that we provide the necessary platforms to grow your business and create opportunities for Africa to shine in the travel and tourism industry,” he concluded.

Some of prominent players’ within the travel and hospitality industry’s such as Lester Ntsabo (Lengau Tours) and Tsheola Dinare, agreed the travel showpiece will be better this year.

‘Oom Derek’ as he prefers being called, also referred to the Nelson Mandela Centenary Celebrations taking place this year, as he addressed delegates in popular Madiba shirt.

KZN Minister of Economic and Tourism Sihle Zikalala also graced the event.

The travel show ends on Thursday 10.
