Following the 2-0 drubbing by Downs at Orlando Stadium, some Bucs fans took out their anger and frustration on a Downs’ supporter Johannes Maseko, who had to be hospitalized.
Where was security and what action was meted out to remedy the situation? Not enough obviously.
Roll back earlier this year when the two teams met and Downs yet again outmuscled Bucs with a 6-0 defeat, fans ran amok and the game had to be halted for an hour at the Loftus Stadium.
‘Till this day, the report has not been meted out to those responsible. Why since February, it beats the hell out of me as well?
Poor Maseko’s body made social media as he laid in the pool of blood before Downs and medical team had to rescue him by rushing him to Bara Hospital.
According to Maseko, who fortunately made it from hospital, knows the Pirate fan who did this to him and has been advised to open a case.
He was also visited by players’ Dennis Onyango and Tiyani Mabunda before being driven home to Attridgeville.
“Why did some of Pirates supporters attack me? The same person also attacked me at Loftus. This is more of a personal matter that whenever we beat Pirates, we get attacked.
I will open the case as advised,” says Maseko reeling in unbearable pains.
Thandi Merafe, Bucs spokesperson also encouraged Maseko to open the case.
PSL spokesperson Lux September said: “I don’t want to speak speculatively. But if there was a crime, then the police should act and investigate.
We as the PSL will look at the match commissioner’s report and take it from there.”
Should another death take place before punitive measures are implemented?
We hope this won’t flare to other stadiums, asseblief.
Afterall, this is a game of millions!
