More blood needed for festive season

The Tiger Wheel & Tyre Blood Drive takes place nationally between the 1st and the 31st October 2011. There is also a major drive for those in and around Lenasia to donate at Signet Terrace specifically on the 22nd and 23rd of October 2011.

Donations take place between 9am and 6pm at Signet Terrace, while the rest of the month donors are free to donate blood at any SANBS Blood Donor Centre nationwide, including Western Province Blood Transfusion Service (WPBTS) in the Western Cape.

Saving a life is not the only reward you will receive as every successful donor will get a free wheel alignment voucher redeemable at any Tiger Wheel & Tyre outlet nationwide.

What’s more, once you have donated blood, you also stand a chance to win the grand prize of a Tiger Wheel & Tyre gift card to the value of R 5000. Runners up will take home a R3000 and R1000 voucher’s respectively.

To stand in line to win, visit your SANBS/WPBTS donor centre today, then simply sms the word TIGER and your blood unit number to 32715, and you’ll be entered into the lucky draw. (Example: TIGER 24136897) SMS charged at R1. Terms and conditions apply.

“The drive for blood is an increasingly important one with more and more people needing blood while reserves are scarce, that’s why we are teaming up with the SANBS yet again to encourage people to support this great cause,” says Alex Taplin, Managing Executive of Tiger Wheel & Tyre.

Key things to remember when donating blood: You must be between 16 and 65 years old; Weigh more than 50 kgs; Be in good health and lead a sexually safe lifestyle; Have a meal at least 4 hours before donating blood.
