Formed in 2006, the club is from Letlhabile near Brits in the North West province and count among their current players former Orlando Pirates midfielder Sepeke Manamela, former Black Leopards star Tshepo Malesa and ex-Lamontville Golden Arrows striker Mogomotsi Mokoka.
The side are coached by ex-Winners Park, Black Leopards and African Warriors tactician Kabelo Machete, while technical director Russil ‘Romarion’ Molefe was with Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows and Free State Stars as a striker in his playing days.
So there is experience there for this side, who currently campaign in the North West Vodacom League and just missed out on the national play-offs last season.
They play their home matches at the Letlhabile Stadium and use the Brits Sports Ground as alternative venue.
“The Nedbank Cup gives youngsters exposure and experience, just like the FA Cup in England,” Shining Stars owner Dr Sello Ntsoko says.
“It’s where raw talent in our country can be spotted and importantly it boosts amateur teams financially. Baroka FC are a good example of that last season.”
North West Shining Stars’ home colours are royal blue with a white trim, while away they use white with a royal blue trim.
