Community members to march outside Sun City ahead of NGC

This follows a confirmed march scheduled to take place outside Sun City on Thursday 8 November.

The Sun City resort in Rustenburg. The march has been scheduled to take place on Thursday by concerned community members ahead of the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Grievances range from BEE, exploitation, scarce job opportunities and under-pay by Sun City management.

This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Community Bojanala Amalgamated Business Forum, the irritated Charles Mogaki.

Albeit Mogaki pointed out the march will be peaceful, he did also emphasise it will draw the attention to guests and international visitors of what our people experience at the resort.

“We’re not only targeting the NGC as it begins on (Thursday) tomorrow, we have been engaging in talks with Sun International since last year on matters such as BEE, exploitation, scarcity of jobs and under-paid staff but to no avail.

Our thinking is the only way to hit them hard in the pocket is by exposing them to the world and this is the only platform because clearly they’re not listening to us,” says Mogaki.

He continued:” They continuously give business to Gauteng companies of which we don’t have a problem with but why overlook the youths in our region, instead of providing skills development projects that would help them to be absorbed in the system”?

Indeed White Monopoly Capital still applies at Sun International, he remarked angrily.

At the time of publishing Sun International had not responded for a comment.
