R Kelly's show canned!

He was due to perform on March 21 and 23 in both Jozi and Durban, respectively.

This was confirmed by the concert organizers Afropulse –based in Klerksdorp NW, today through press statement.

Although the press release tried to point out what was the reason behind the postponement, it did not clarify the real issue.

The press statement read:” R. Kelly is a true performer and in order to put on the best possible show for his South African fans, the local promoter has decided they need more time to pull together all the local logistics elements needed.”

It continued: ”Both the promoter and R. Kelly have agreed to postpone the dates of the Single Ladies Tour in South Africa, from the initially announced dates of 21st and 23rd March 2013 to the 8th and 10th of August 2013.

The dates fall within the long weekend holiday of South Africa, Women’s Day weekend, which also resonates with the tour title, “Single Ladies Tour”.

But according to two reliable sources, the reason behind the postponement is poor sales of tickets in Johannesburg.

“Jhb did not do well in terms of selling the tickets instead Durban was,” says our sources known to Sowetolife Magazine Online.

“They had hoped Jhb will outnumber Dbn but that was not the case. They did not market R Kelly as aggressively as possible and instead took it lightly.

That’s the price they have to pay unfortunately. ”

A daily newspaper reporter also confirmed that Durban did well on ticket sales than in Jozi.

Afropulse representative confirmed that, those who bought tickets would be reimbursed on or from March 19, however, if one is still keen to the attend the August concert the same ticket will be used.

The R Kelly ‘Single Ladies Tour’ will now take place in August.
