A windfall for PSL as Absa increase prize money to R39.9m

This follows news that both Premier League and Absa have agreed to increase the prize money for the new football season to 50%.

The total prize-money for the league has been increased from R29.5-million to R39.9-million, a jump of 35 percent on the last season.

This means a cool R15million for the PSL title winners.

“This season the Absa Premiership champions will earn a whopping R15 million. Yes, you heard right, R15 million. Our sponsors, Absa and us as the league, had to crunch the numbers to ensure that this is possible,” said Khoza at the press brief in Parktown on Wednesday.

The second-placed side pockets R7.5-million, with third picking up R3.75-million. The team that finishes bottom of the league will only enjoy a R440 000 pay-day.
