It was held last week at the 2010 World Cup Stadium- Mbombela, Nelspruit, were more than 25 000 revelers came to witness the celebration.
But DJ Clock had other plans…
According to promote Bruce Kgapane from Ziyaphenduka, we were relieved that the fans did not react.
“We did book DJ Clock to grace the event but he did not,” says Kgapane.
“Had they realized that, they could’ve caused an irreparable damage to our expensive music equipment.
Since he did not honour our deal, he should refund us, that’s all,” says the Gatvol Kgapane, who also emphasized angrily that they ‘will never touch that boy again’.
The music fete was to celebrate one of the oldest SABC’s radio platforms Ligwalagwala FM’s 32 birthday.
However, that did not deter the revelers who enjoyed music and ignored the chilly weather until the break of dawn!
“We’re disappointed with what DJ Clock did because he could have notified us. What If our loyal listeners could have reacted and then what? asked the newly appointed Head of Marketing at Ligwalagwala FM Mfundo Ntsibande.
“However, we’re happy with how the celebration went. The promoter will have to deal with him.”
On a positive note, the attendance showed the station has massive followership as people drove as far as Mozambique and Swaziland, he continued.
And yes, it outnumbered the Metro FM Bikers and Sixties annual events, respectively. Talk of having own your cake and eat it…
As part of his marketing strategies at the station, Ntsibande will unveil future plans going forward.
At the time of publishing DJ Clock had promised to provide comment but that did not materialize.
Where was his clock tickin’, your guess is just good as mine!
