FNB Stadium ready to welcome thousands of revelers at the 2023 Monster Jam- insisting no problem with the pitch

JOHANNESBURG will have its turn as the Monster Jam SA truck takes shape at FNB Stadium on Saturday 29.

Monster Jam 2023, features breath-taking Freestyle Motocross (FMX) exhibitions, making this unbeatable full-throttle fun for the whole family.

Cape Town had their share by hosting the first of the three-legged event last weekend.

The line-up of eight Monster Jam trucks features fan favourites such as Grave Digger®; Max-DTM, the futuristic SUV celebrating 20 years of Monster Jam action; mighty Megalodon®; the raging bull, El Toro Loco®; Monster Mutt® Dalmatian remembered for its massive floppy ears; ever-popular Zombie™; regular Monster Jam World Finals competitor®, Blue Thunder®; and making its South Africa debut, Earth Shaker®.

The all-star drivers competing in SA are 2019 Monster Jam World Finals Speedster Champion Matt Cody (Grave Digger); Blake Granger (Max-D), the 2019 Monster Jam World Finals ATV Racing Champion; off-road short course champion and rising star Monster Jam star,  Brandon Arthur (El Toro Loco); Myranda Cozad (Monster Mutt Dalmatian), Chelsea VanCleave (Zombie), successfully transitioning from racing dragsters to racing Monster Jam trucks; Tony Ochs (Earth Shaker) winner of the 2019 Arena Freestyle of the Year trophy; and Camden Murphy (Blue Thunder) winner of the 2022 Monster Jam Fan Favorite Driver of the Year.

Monster Jam drivers are trained, world-class athletes who have mastered not only the physical strength and mental stamina needed to compete, but the vital dexterity to control 4,500 kg machines capable of doing backflips, vertical two-wheel skills and racing at speeds up to 110 kilometers per hour to produce jaw-dropping, live motor sports action seen around the world.

For Stadium Management SA, there won’t be an issue with the grass considering the same venue, will be hosting the much awaited Nedbank Cup semis between two Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates next weekend- May 6.

This was confirmed by the enthusiastic chief executive of SMSA, Bertie Grobbelaar to this reporter.

“In partnership with the event organizer, we have planned the track build and load out to the finest detail to ensure that the pitch is protected so that it will be ready for the Derby on 6 May 2023.

Our pitch maintenance service provider, together with our facilities team, will be on site from Sunday 30 April 2023 to execute a detailed pitch reinstatement programme and schedule,” says Grobbelaar.

The organisers will have a media brief on preparations on Friday.

Fans in every city will have the chance to vote for the winner in the two-wheel and freestyle competitions by real-time, in-stadium fan voting on their smartphones.

Jam tickets start from: R150, R250, R350, R450, R600.

Note: The event ticket is not a Pit Party Pass.

Durban- Moses Mabhida Stadium will host the final leg on May 6.

The event only start from 6pm in each city.
