MAKHE, whisper in one makhe’s ear to tell another that Makhelwena Festival is back at Orlando.
Celebrating its 9th iteration in 2024, the fest with its roots deeply entrenched in the age-old tradition of Ubuntu/Botho, brings together neighbors and visitors alike to experience the power of communal unity and shared experiences.
So, bomakhe listen, it has been scheduled from 16th to the 18th of February at Poka Street in Orlando West.
In true Ubuntu, this is where abomakhe open their doors to each other, ‘fostering a strong sense of community through the exchange of food, gifts, and laughter’ as local and international tourists come to immerse themselves and experience township culture, as one of the best curated events in Soweto.
There will be business sessions at Thesis Lifestyle, Mofolo featuring various entrepreneurs from 12 noon.
Panellists include author of Nomyani, Banele Rewo, Proudly South African CMO, Happy MaKhumalo Ngidi, co – founder of Thesis Lifestyle, Galebowe Mahlatsi, creative director and visual artist, Fhatuwani Mukheli and the CEO of the Gauteng Economic Propeller, Saki Zamxaka.
Confirmed line-up over the weekend features Zoe Modiga, Tubatsi Moloi, Pearl Thusi, Linda Moeketsi and Dali Wonga.

Starting from the 17 through to 18 tickets are priced between R150 for Early Day Tickets and R300.
