PSL fixtures are becoming more exciting, so will Downs vs AmaKhosi encounter

ALL Soweto clubs are enjoying a good run, lately.

Last night Orlando Pirates won their Betway PSL games against the North West Orbit FC 1-0, though it came in the second half, after the huffing and puffing.

They made Bucs sweat for their win, at Orlando Stadium, that was attended by over 10 000 fans.

It must be declared, this Orbit FC are no pushovers, and if they could polish their finishing and avoid complacency at times, they could see themselves retaining status in the elite league.

Young, hungry and boasting loads of stamina, they could cause some uneasiness amongst other PSL outfits. They boast that undying spirit, of which is written all over the players and its coaching department.

Pirates won last weekend’s MTN8 semi-finals, beating Mamelodi Sundowns 4-1 on penalty shootouts.

Another humdinger of a game tonight, is between Kaizer Chiefs and Downs in the PSL clash.

The two meet at FNB Stadium, a drive from Orlando Stadium.

Kick- off from 19:30

Chiefs waltz into this game having won all of their three PSL games in a trot.

This means the morale is high at the Naturena side and they might end up fielding former Downs’ attacking midfielder, Lebohang Maboe, who re-joins the gold and black outfit last season.

Maboe, who was part of the Club’s youth development academy during his teenage years, returns to Naturena after stints with SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Maritzburg United.

Over the course of his distinguished career in the Premier Soccer League, he has collected several trophies and accolades.

The 30-year-old attacking midfielder has also earned 13 caps for the South African national team, Bafana Bafana.

Its been a while since fans have been this happy and the players would not want to dampen that mood, would they, especially this evening against the wounded ‘Ka bo Yellow’ side?

But write off Sundowns off at your peril because they can a pull a wool over your face and strike where it hurts most…

After-all they’re serial PSL champs and would want to stamp that authority beginning this evening at what AmaKhosi players declared a ‘fortress’ whose pitch renovation is rumoured to have cost a cool R16m.
