MTN8 semi-finals has coaches under pressure!

This face says it all as pressure mounts. Chiefs coach Steve Komphela will on Saturday have to prove he’s not only an academic but also a strategist. This follows pressure the team is receiving from the fans for their below par performance lately.

Kaizer Chiefs has had slow start to their League defence which has seen them drop points against both Chippa United and Polokwane City, respectively.

Conceding three goals against Maritzburg United has also questioned his defensive structure.

This weekend defending champs AmaKhosi Amakhosi face troublesome Bloem Celtic’s in the second leg of the MTN8 Cup at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

They played to a 1-all draw in the first game in Bloemfontein.

Both Itumeleng Khune and Siphiwe Tshababala have come out with guns blazing in defence of their coach ahead of Saturday’s clash.

“Steve should be given the same respect that the foreign coaches got,” Khune says. “We have to be patient with him, and the fans must be patient with us.”

Tshabalala adds: “Steve is definitely adding great value to the team; he’s done well thus far. We will support him. Let’s give him chance, he will bring us success.”

But the hard to please fans are having none of it, and some are already calling for his head.

Unfortunately for Komphela, he has occupied one of the hottest and demanding seats in the country and results for now are not coming his way.

What will happen on Saturday evening should only please his fans or else…

Meanwhile, Wits host the stubborn and fierce Ajax Cape Town on Sunday for another MTN8 second leg clash at Bidvest Stadium.
The two sides also recorded a 1-all draw in Cape Town, made worse by the poor playing field.

Gavin Hunt also knows a win will bring cool heads at the club.
