Edward Motale believes the latest instalment of the Soweto Derby will be decided on spot-kicks, as he feels both Kaizer and Orlando Pirates will play a cautious game.
The Glamour Boys 6-5 win on penalties against Pirates in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals earlier this season is testament to Motale’s sentiments, as he feels this will once again occur in the Nedbank Cup.
“It will be decided on penalties because you know Chiefs, they are on the same par with Pirates,” Motale.
“They are not scoring enough goals; they are also struggling with their performances.
“It’s going to be a one-must go, one must stay game, penalties will decide.
‘Magents’ also gave his opinion on why he thinks Pirates striker Thamsanqa Gabuza may be struggling this season, citing fatigue as the main factor.
He also mentions that he doesn’t have to score goals to please the supporters again.
“I don’t think he has to play and score to please the supporters.
“They always want results at Pirates and Gabuza has done that for them.
“So, the Pirates supporters need to understand that he is a bit tired because he has played so many games, so somewhere along the line fatigue will catch up with you.
“So, I think the two games he didn’t play was a good rest for him
“I think for me he wasn’t scoring not because he was off form but that he was tired,” Motale added.
