Be ready to fork out 500k for the Hennessy Masterpiece X.O decanter

THE exclusive Hennessy Masterpiece X.O decanter finally hits SA.

Unfortunately, only 3 limited-edition Masterpiece X.O bottles are available for purchase at selected stores in Jozi.

It also feature the HNY Low sneakers – and ONLY TWO these have arrived in mzansi and are NOT FOR SALE! If only I could get my hands on those pairs, if only…

While the collection garnered global acclaim during its official launch in March 2023, it has only recently made its long-awaited debut to our shores, in time for festive season.

Why such an expensive collection, one may ask- according to Market Manager of Southern Africa at Moët Hennessy, Stefanos Kondylis, the collaboration with Dior and Kim Jones- Fendi artistic director is the first time Hennessy collaborates with a fashion designer and is meant to celebrate 150 years of the Hennessy X.O.

“This first-of-its-kind collaboration with Kim Jones marks a cultural milestone for Hennessy.

Kim’s collection is set in a contemporary style and is inspired by the emblematic personality of Hennessy X.O. Kim designs are destined to make an impact on culture today and in the future,” remarked Kondylis.

This partnership signified a big milestone for both parties as it was the first time Hennessy teamed up with a creative fashion designer to release a customer-facing wearable accessory, and likewise, it is Jones’ first collaboration with a spirits brand.

Encapsulating the richness of Hennessy X.O’s heritage with the creative vision of Jones, the collection pays tribute to cognac-making and couture, two processes that work on an understanding of science and the natural world, as well as artisanal craftsmanship.

The HNY Low by Kim Jones is a limited edition sneaker inspired by early low-top designs to create an elegant and timeless look suitable for various styles and ages. Although two pairs of the limited edition sneakers have entered SA, they are not for sale.

“I’m fascinated by the rich heritage of Hennessy, a household name behind which artisans have spent hundreds of years creating this special cognac,” said Jones.

“Storytelling is very important for me regardless of what I’m designing or who I’m collaborating with – I want my designs to educate and inspire people through the stories they tell,” continued Jones.

Only three of the Hennessy X.O Masterpiece decanters featuring a twisting folds design is reminiscent of couture clothing draping, are available at Norman Goodfellows in Melrose, Makro in Woodmead, and Boulevard Cellars in Rivonia, and retails for R500 000, each.

The X.O bottles retail at R3500 each and can be found at all retailers in SA.

On sneakers- there’s a website created to showcase the collection, but Hennessy has not confirmed if the public would be able to see the sneakers.
