Blue Train, Sunshine Tour form a hospitable partnership

The professional winners of all co-sanctioned events on both tours – beginning with the recent Investec South African Women’s Open on the Sunshine Ladies Tour and including the upcoming European Tour co-sanctioned events on the Sunshine Tour – will each receive a luxurious experience for two on board The Blue Train on the Pretoria to Cape Town route.

Any professional who scores a hole-in-one during these co-sanctioned tournaments will also win a similar experience for two.

Further to this, at each of the official pro-am dinners for these co-sanctioned tournaments, The Blue Train will hold a grand draw announcing four lucky winners of tickets for two to also experience the journey of a lifetime on the Pretoria to Cape Town route.

“We’re absolutely delighted to partner with such a uniquely South African institution such as The Blue Train in offering our champions on the Sunshine Tour and Sunshine Ladies Tour an experience that is unrivalled in terms of luxury rail,” said Thomas Abt, Commissioner of the Sunshine Tour.

Pauli van Meersbergen, the Tournament Director for the Sunshine Ladies, also expressed her delight at such a unique partnership.

“It’s not only a wonderful way for us to reward our champions, but also the perfect opportunity to showcase our beautiful country through The Blue Train experience, building on what we already showcase to the world through our tournament broadcasts.”

Nomasonto Ndlovu, Executive Manager: Tourism, Hospitality and Heritage at Transnet, said they were thrilled to bring the longstanding excellence of this national treasure into a partnership with the excellence of South African professional golf.

“Much like the history of South African professional golf, The Blue Train has for decades set the standard of excellence in luxury rail, being ranked the best on the African continent for 12 years in a row and competing with the best in the world. The synergies between golf and luxury rail are seamless, leaning on the idea of a deliberate, considered experience. We are indeed excited by this partnership and we look forward to rewarding golf excellence with the best of South African tourism.”

The winners of this incredible prize will, along with their partners, be treated to a two-night journey between Pretoria and Cape Town, with an off-train excursion in Kimberley to The Big Hole and the Diamond Museum.

The experience is all-inclusive with freshly prepared five course, silver service gourmet dinners accompanied by a multiple award-wining wine list, fine liquor and handmade Cuban cigars, live entertainment, personal butlers and a refined hospitality that is unrivalled in South African tourism. The journey will be one-way and the winners will have flexibility on when they want to travel.
