Corporate world encouraged to travel

Lebza, as he’s popularly known amongst his peers was part of the historical “Whatever you looking for, its here” corporate campaign between South African Tourism and Siemens.

The campaign and the partnership is part of South African Tourism’s domestic campaign, which includes corporate activations as one of its components which seeks to conscientious corporate staff to travel and of course, be productive and happy at work place.

Siemens’ Midrand head office was turned into an adventure zone, as employees, media and guests, tried out adrenalin-pumping activities such as jet skiing and trampoline bungee jumping; an action-packed cycle route simulator and a mini golf practice range.

And yours truly took advantage of the offering and burnt-off some kilos, stru!

Rejuvenating spa experiences, wine and cheese tasting, Sophiatown food, music and pantsula dance lessons, added a unique South African cultural flavor to the whole day experience.

Through specially packaged deals with tourism products such as Lebo’s Backpackers, Soweto Outdoor Adventures, Pick ‘n Pay Travel, STA Travel and Thompsons Holidays, the partnership gives employees and their families the chance to experience the best of Mzansi at an affordable price.

Yes, most blacks -be it executives or ordinary folks -are reluctant to travel in this country, and such good packages should encourage them to do so often.

It is expected by the end of this season, other blue chip companies would follow suite.

Sigi Proebstl, CEO of Siemens Africa, said: “We are very proud to be associated with South African Tourism and a project of this kind – a first of its kind – as it allows us to offer our employees the opportunity to explore travel options in their own country, when they plan their well deserved vacations.

We value the commitment of our employees and encourage them to lead a balanced lifestyle, devoting time not only to their careers, but also to their families and personal wellbeing,” he said.

“Holidays are not just fun; they are rejuvenating and enhance productivity. For hard-working South Africans it’s critical to take a break with the family and friends, exploring our country’s beauty, history and culture and we’re very excited about this partnership with Siemens,” said Roshene Singh, Chief Marketing Officer at SA Tourism.

The holidays are themed and linked to places in Mzansi only from scrumptious South African-style cuisine, outdoor adventure and spa and relaxation experiences and these deals range from only R 147 to R 2 715 per person.

Through the new campaign, South African Tourism partners with a number of businesses that offer a travel related service (i.e. accommodation, car hire or an airplane ticket to local destinations) to load specially packaged deals on the Vaya Mzansi website(www.vayamzansi.co.za) and mobile site(www.vayamzansimobi). Consumers can also become a fan of the Facebook fanpage (www.facebook.com/vayamzansi) and take advantage of affordably priced deals available on these platforms.

In his parting shot, Lebo says lets explore firstly, what Soweto has to offer!
