Having said that the legendary Dr Hugh will give his maiden show at the Dstv iRock Music festival on September 22 at Meropa Gardens- Limpopo.
The jazz show will set a precedent for what will be a weekend of fun and nostalgia in the Province, from comedy to house music.
This will be a mêlée for ‘Doctors’ as Dr Masekela will perform alongside Limpopo’s very own legendary musician, Dr Thomas Chauke.
The Doctors will be joined on stage by Cape Town born but Zimbabwean raised Gemma Griffiths- another Southern gem, acoustic soul singer and composer.
On Saturday 22, the iRock main event features Cassper Nyovest, Amanda Black, Sands, Euphonik, Shomadjozi, Culoe de Song and Kwesta, at the Polokwane Cricket Club.
Shekinah rounds off the weekend with a show at the Park on Sunday.
Comedians David Kau and Limpopos’s own Mashabela will hold the loft, so will DJ Ganyani and former Teargas member Ma’E, at the battle for the stage competition at Seshego on Saturday 26.
Doors to the iRock Jazz Legends will open at 19h15 and tickets are available from Computicket at R280 for general access and R1250 for VIP access which includes an open bar, food and parking.
